Who says "High Engadine" also says "hiking". The  versatile and scenic high valley offers 580 km of hiking network of its own kind. Starting from pure strolls to small and easy tours to challenging walks or trekkings that last several days, the hiking fan prone to breathtaking panorama will strike a bonanza.

hiking with family

plus points of the hiking region

Your arrival in the Engadine is the moment when hiking becomes a joyful joint family activity - even in the eyes of usually rather sceptical children. Some of these advantages make the region more attractive:

  • Themed trails
  • Forest and nature  trails
  • Buggy-suitable routes
  • Wheelchair-suitable tours

Ambitous mountaineers will also get their money's worth on spectacular high routes with a gigantic panorama. Especially the areas of Corviglia/Piz Nair, Corvatsch/Furtschellas, Diavolezza and Muottas Muragl/Alp Languard.

Highlight hiking

Corvatsch – Hahnensee – St. Moritz

This hike is as beautiful as it is simple! Even grandma and grandpa, children and even bad walkers can be part of it. Take the gondola from Surlej to the middle station Murtèl. From there you start your tour. You have the possibility to stop by the Restaurant Hahnensee next to the moor lake -  here you can take the time to get yourself spoilt with delicious food and enjoy the panoramic views and study the dragon flies. The destination of your hike are the two moor lakes,  Lej Nair and further on the Lej Marsch, which invite to a round of swimming. How about a pic-nic at the fire pits bordering the lakes?

Themed trails

Themed trails are a practical way to get to know better your "holiday home" and explore its character. If this can be combined with heavenly trails soothing your soul, even better. Stories, customs and the regional way of life are mentioned on the Engadine theme trails just as there are explanations of flora and fauna and the use of renewable energy. Many nature trails are created in a playful way which makes them perfect to use with children as well.

Water makes happy

hiking along the lakes

When it comes to hiking along the lakes in the Engadine, the high plateau between Maloja and St. Moritz is THE choice. You will find lakes born as postcard pictures. A content stroll or hike to the four amazing valley lakes and some small forest, mountain or moor lakes are our special recommendation for an active  day of holiday during the warm season.

Tips for hikes around the lakes:

  • Go around the High Engadine lakes
  • Water trail to the six Lejins (circular walk)
  • Bernina Pass: from lake to lake into the Puschlav or Lej Minor (circular walk)
